At 6,812m above sea level, Ama Dablam may be a long way off the highest peaks in the Himalayas, but its ascent is regarded as a true achievement among the mountaineering fraternity due to the technical rock and ice climbing skills needed to reach the summit. The shapely peak is a familiar sight to those trekking to Everest base camp, dominating the eastern skyline, and this 25-day expedition, led by world record holders Nimsdai and Mingma David is run with safety as a proirity, avoiding a hazardous third camp near the glacier that is often used by other operators, with the team's deep knowledge of the mountain's risks ensuring a safer, more efficient ascent.
