A decade of work. Every hull built to order, by hand, on a coast that has been making some of the world's finest boats since the sixteenth century. There is no production line anywhere near them. The measure is the boat, not the speed of production.

Sisu

Resilience: the willingness to carry on when the going gets tough. In a boat, it is the difference between something that performs when new and something still trusted twenty years later.

Moderation

Just enough and nothing beyond it. An engineering discipline rather than a style, with a plain debt to Dieter Rams. The simplest arrangement that does the job is the one least likely to stop doing it. It accounts for the manual systems, the single-axis bow and the absence of gadgets nobody asked for.

Life outdoors

In Finland, being outside is not a seasonal pastime. It sets the terms for a boat intended to be used in February as well as July, and puts outdoor life first.

Together, these ideas describe a tradition Finland has been designing within for generations, and help explain the quiet confidence of a boat that comes from it.
