Project Pelagos
85/02 Build

Project Pelagos has a custom saloon layout with 12 berths on the lower deck in a six-cabin configuration. As with all Arksen vessels, the Arksen 85 offers robust build quality, excellent reliability and superb efficiency, combined with comfort, style and safety, as expected from a modern, long-range cruising vessel.

As the vessel will be used mostly in warmer climates, there is less of a requirement for a formal dining area inside, and more of an emphasis on al-fresco living.

“The owner had a clear vision for the main saloon. The use of this area is to be relaxed and family orientated, with the intention of playing card games, watching films and casual dining. The owner was keen to utilise bean bags to create an informal atmosphere and introduce a carpet finish in this area to allow sitting on the floor with the family. The more formal and social dining for this owner will be set up on the main deck outside so they can enjoy the elements.”

- Nigel, Design Unlimited

The interior is designed in line with Arksen’s core values of functionality, beauty and sustainability and offers a calming ambience throughout, focusing on light and airy spaces. An environmental approach was at the heart of the design process. The materials have been selected to enhance the experience onboard, while minimising damage to the environment where possible.

The new owner will join the Arksen family, a growing and supportive ecosystem that helps owners discover more remote and challenging locations

The owner wanted to achieve trans-ocean cruising, high efficiency, the ability to explore high and low latitudes, easy operation, and low maintenance while having the latest proven and reliable technology.

Project Ocean
85/01 Build

Milestone for Arksen as their first eco-conscious Explorer Vessel, ‘Project Ocean’, goes into production. Built from the ground up to be capable and efficient for true off-grid adventures. Arksen continue to drive market change, by facilitating more mindful and purposeful explorations.

Project Ocean has four cabins accommodating up to 10 explorers and two crew including a full beam master suite with multi-purpose library / study / media room / children’s cabin. She has an efficient cruising speed of 9-11 knots, top speed of 14 knots and a maximum range of up to 7,000nm. “Project Ocean” has a solar array and full hybrid propulsion package and energy management system supplied by Praxis Automation Technology.

The Arksen 85 hull and superstructure are built in aluminium, supplied by Norway-based company Speria, which contains 40% recycled-content and can again be recycled at the end of the vessel’s life. The hull design is highly efficient, leading to reduced fuel consumption which equates to lower running costs and lower emissions. The interior is created by multi-award winning Design Unlimited and will use a wide range of sustainable materials including many from recycled sources. Even the soft furnishings include fabrics created using recycled plastic bottles.

Zero emissions mode and silent running are possible at anchor and underway with the solar array and hybrid propulsion system

The efficient design, sustainable technologies and long-range capabilities of the Arksen fleet are more important than ever today. We think it’s very exciting, the right product at the right time.
