Ocean Storyteller Award
Three Awards | Tonga 2026
Taking place 1–8 August in Vava'u, the expedition is part of the Arksen Ocean Storyteller Initiative supporting people who experience, document and share stories from the blue world. The three selected Storytellers will swim respectfully with humpback whales and take part in The Whale Signal Project, collecting non invasive audiovisual data on the sound world of whales.
Applications open until Friday, July 17th.

Jono Allen is an Australian underwater photographer, freedive instructor, environmental scientist, marine megafauna guide, and naturalist with a deep passion for ocean life. He has led immersive whale encounters in Vava’u, Tonga, since 2019, blending his expertise in freediving and natural history to create safe, respectful in-water experiences with humpback whales.
