New Chief Operating Officer

Arksen, the eco-focused technology and innovation company building and supporting autonomy ready vessels for adventure and exploration, has today announced the appointment of Ewan Hind as Chief Operating Officer to the company.

Ewan Hind as Chief Operating Officer

With 25 years of commercial experience under his belt, Hind brings a wealth of knowledge to the project gained from roles including Director of Lewis Marine Consulting and Senior Project Manager at Oyster Yachts, notably delivering the recently completed first of class Oyster 1225 Superyacht.

Hind commented on his new position with the Arksen project:

“It’s exciting to be part of an ambitious company at an early stage, and I’m looking forward to being part of the team as it grows.“I was first attracted by the Arksen explorer vessels; perfect platforms for adventures and expeditions, that allow access to incredible places but with a very light footprint. However, the more I learnt about the concept and ethos of Arksen as a whole, including the Arksen Foundation and the Explorers’ Club, the more interested I became. I love that these vessels will be used not only for adventure but also for research and education and will not spend their lives tied to a dock!”

Focusing on the wider positive impact the company is driving within the industry, he continued:

“The increasing prioritisation of sustainability within the marine industry creates a fantastic opportunity to innovate, to be at the forefront of this change, and to develop technologies to increase sustainability within the marine industry and beyond.”

Hind, a qualified Chartered Engineer, Naval Architect and large yacht Captain, is no stranger to the challenges and demands of the world’s oceans. A keen sailor with a deep love for the sea, Hind has been involved in boats his whole life from designing, building and sailing them. With over 100,000 sea miles behind him, he’s ticked off many bucket list adventures including circumnavigating the globe as a Skipper in the gruelling biannual Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.

Jasper Smith, Founder of Arksen, said:

“We are thrilled to welcome Ewan to the Arksen project as we continue to grow our team. Ewan brings a great depth of skill and knowledge of the marine industry that will be highly valuable in the delivery of our initiatives such as the Arksen Foundation and the Explorers’ Club, and as a whole, our wider company strategy to help drive a sustainable marine future.”

Ewan and his team will attend the Monaco Yacht Show next week and the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show this October. To arrange a meeting with the team, contact tellmemore@arksen.com
